Gym climbing is welcoming in 2024 with a bang – Western Cape Climbing, Gauteng Climbing and Eastern Cape Climbing are all holding their provincial competitions within a week of each other this February! Note that these competitions are open to climbers from all provinces, so long as athletes are registered with their clubs, provincial federations and SANCF.

WESTERN CAPE CLIMBING
Western Cape Provincials 2024
Date: 3 & 4 February 2024
Place: CityROCK Cape Town & Bloc 11 Paarden Eiland
Join WCC on 3 February at CityROCK Cape Town and 4 February at Bloc 11 Paarden Eiland to strut your stuff in Top Rope, Lead, Speed and Boulder.
The competition is open to all athletes in South Africa, from U7 all the way up to seniors (over 19s). Note that there is a competition fee of R500, regardless of how many disciplines you will be taking part in.
Registrations for all disciplines close at midnight on 28 January 2024, so get going and get registered before it’s too late!
GAUTENG CLIMBING
Gauteng Climbing Provincials 2024
Date: 9 to 11 February
Place: CityROCK Johannesburg & Pretoria
Join GC at CityROCK Johannesburg and Pretoria from 9 to 11 February for the GC Provincials!
Speed will be held at CityROCK Johannesburg on 9 February, after which the competition will move to CityROCK Pretoria for Boulder on 10 February and Lead on 11 February.
You may enter however many disciplines you’d like, and the competition fee is a flat R500 regardless of how many disciplines you enter.
The registration deadline is midnight 1 February, so be sure to sign up through your club in time.

EASTERN CAPE CLIMBING
Eastern Cape Climbing Provincials 2024
Date: 3 February
Place: Vally Crag Climbing Centre
Join ECC on 3 February at Vally Crag for the Eastern Cape Climbing Provincials!
Beginners and pros can enjoy a day of fun climbing, logging routes for provincial selection and possibly ending up in the open finals. Or just climb for fun.
DJs, coffee, amazing prizes.
All proceeds will go towards Eastern Cape’s Olympic champ Aniya to support her training and journey to Paris. Stand a chance to win an entire year’s membership by challenging Aniya to a speed climb!

Pre-Provincial Senior Boulder Event
Date: 27 January 2024
Place: Rock Valley Climbing
For those athletes looking for additional comp experience before Provincials, Rock Valley Climbing – in collaboration with Nationals and IFSC African Qualifier route setter Wes Antonites of Friends and Allies – will be hosting an epic Pre-Provincial Boulder Competition.
Anjulie Jones from F&A will also be working magic on the walls. The goal of this competition is to shake off the dust, free your mind, and get psyched for some serious climbing action.
The event will take place at Rock Valley Climbing on Saturday 27 January 2024, for U13 to Open Climbers. There will be a U13-U15 set in the first session, while U17 to Opens will compete in the second part of the day.
