La Sportiva is closing out its first-ever La Sportiva Boulder Series (LSBS) in South Africa with a bang, hosting a one-day final boulder competition at CityROCK Johannesburg later this month, while also announcing a long-term price update that makes its climbing shoes more accessible to local climbers.
“The Solution”, takes place on Saturday, 21 February, and is open to both members and non-members. Entry is free for CityROCK members, with standard day pass rates applying to non-members.
The competition will run from 09:00 to around 17:00, featuring a morning qualification round followed by a final round for the top-performing climbers in the afternoon.
With over R7,000 worth of prizes and vouchers up for grabs, along with spectator competitions and activities throughout the day, the event is designed to be as much a social climbing festival as it is a serious competition.
As an added bonus for athletes who have participated in the LSBS throughout the season, the top competitor in each LSBS category will receive bonus points in the qualification round.
Registration for the event closes on 18 February, with further details to be shared via CityROCK and La Sportiva’s social media channels.
Alongside the competition, La Sportiva has also announced a strategic pricing update across its climbing shoe range in South Africa. The move aims to make the brand more accessible to a wider audience, while maintaining the same performance standards that have made La Sportiva one of the most respected names in climbing globally.
Known for equipping elite climbers such as Alex Honnold and Adam Ondra, La Sportiva says the updated pricing is a long-term shift rather than a short-term promotion.
