Valentine’s Day may be over, but it’s still the month of love and there is a wonderful cause in need of our help… the Veldblommetjies Creche, established a few years back by the incredible Rocklands Association for Development (RAD)!
RAD was founded in 2017 with the goal of ensuring that the prolific tourism the Rocklands area experiences from climbers and other visitors benefits and enriches the local community and environment.
How? By getting climbers (particularly those who frequent Rocklands during bouldering season) involved in valuable projects that empower, uplift and support the people who call this beautiful area home.
One of these projects is the Veldblommetjies Creche, which offers essential early childhood schooling and aftercare services, better equipping the local children for their first years at primary school and making a substantial, tangible difference in their lives.
The growth and impact of this undertaking have been remarkable, but there is still a long way to go and a consistent supply of funding is needed to maintain the creche and continue this invaluable work. As such, RAD is reaching out to all of us in the climbing community who may be able to offer a helping hand in the form of a donation.
Have a read through their funding proposal to see exactly how funds will be used and please consider showing them some love if you have the means:
A donation of your chosen amount can easily be made through PayFast at the button below, as well as via EFT with the following details:

This is such an incredibly important initiative that can make a real difference in the world, and every little bit helps! We are so lucky as South African climbers to have one of the world’s best bouldering destinations on our doorstep, and this is just a small way of giving back to the land that has given us so much.
