Do you fancy yourself an adventurer? Are you plotting a unique and daring expedition? Apply for the 2024 Mountain Club of South Africa Supertramp Award!
WHAT IS IT?
Established by the Magaliesberg MCSA section back in 2005, the Supertramp Award seeks to support brave and determined South African mountaineers by providing funding for ambitious adventures. Previous winners (a.k.a. Supertramps) have used their winnings to explore remote areas of Nepal, embark on a solo trek across Iceland, summit volcanoes in Mexico, and check out the bouldering in Zimbabwe’s Chimanimani Mountains, among many other excellent pursuits.
Unfortunately, funding for the award dried up back in 2017…but now it’s back and better than ever, offering a base amount of R30 000 for the applicant who proposes the most deserving expedition…
HOW DO I APPLY?
The application deadline is 30 November 2023 – no late submissions will be accepted. To apply for the Supertramp Award, you will need to read the award letter and information pack, then download and complete the below application form, and email it through to mcsasupertramp@gmail.com and president@mcsa.org.co.za.
