Join the Mountain Club of South Africa, Boven Reboot Initiative, Wits University Mountain Club and Emgwenya Climbing Club on 17 & 18 September for a weekend of adventure and community with the 2022 Boven Open Weekend!
The event, which had its debut last year, aims to connect the climbing community with the local people of Waterval Boven, while bringing some attention to a few lesser-known treasures in the area. This year’s Open Weekend – hosted at the stunning Tegwaan Country Getaway – promises plenty of fun-packed festivities, with Saturday being devoted to enjoying climbing at several different lower valley crags, followed by a lekker braai at Tegwaan. There will be a top-rope station set up for beginners to get a taste of the rock, along with optional lead climbing and cleaning courses – you can indicate if you want to attend these on your registration form.
Sunday is set to be stellar day, with a bunch of activities to choose from including climbing, a morning trail run, campsite yoga class and 10km hike in the afternoon, along with swimming, slacklining and whatever else takes your fancy!
