The team representing South Africa at the 2024 IFSC Youth World Championships in Guiyang, China from 22 to 31 August is ready to rock the international stage thanks to an incredible R200 000 donation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.
The cheque was handed over to the team by Wu Peng, the Ambassador of China to South Africa, at a prestigious ceremony in Pretoria on Friday, 9 August.
The financial costs of attending international climbing competitions are immense, and this very generous sponsorship alleviates a huge amount of pressure from the coaches and athletes, allowing them to focus solely on training and preparing to compete against some of the world’s strongest young crushers.
