CityROCK Pretoria construction kicked off in August 2022, and it’s well on track for its grand opening in May this year – needless to say, we are flipping STOKED! The bouldering structures are almost complete and the high climbing sections are starting to take shape – with a maximum wall height of 16m and plenty of tasty features in all climbing sections, this new addition to the CityROCK family of gyms is sure to be a fan favourite.
But we all know that the heart of CityROCK is its community, and that’s why we’re asking for YOUR input in this brand-new venture with our Pretoria wall design competition!
In a nutshell, we’re asking all you creative climbers to get your colouring on and help us choose the colours for our walls – create and submit your unique design and, if your design is chosen, you could WIN R10 000 in vouchers for the CityROCK Gear Shop / Mountain Mail Order! The second-place design will receive a free one-year membership for any CityROCK branch, and every serious entry will get a free one-month membership for the CityROCK branch of your choice.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Download SketchUp (a 3D modelling program we use for wall design). It’s free for 30 days and can be used through a web browser or through a downloaded app on your PC or tablet. Check out this tutorial if you’ve never used Sketchup before.
2. Open the CityROCK PTA wall design file and add your splash of colour! Please note that your design should include solid colours only (a maximum of 8 different colours) with no patterns or graffiti designs (unfortunately these don’t work very well with our grips).
3. Save your design as “CityROCK Wall Design_Name Surname” or “CR_Name Surname” and email it to marketing@cityrock.co.za.
4. The submission deadline for designs is midnight on Tuesday 31 January 2023. No late submissions will be accepted.
THE FINE PRINT
First prize: A voucher for R10,000 for the CityROCK Gear Shop/Mountain Mail Order (no discounts are applicable for this voucher). If we choose your design as is, you win the jackpot. If we alter it slightly, you will still win first prize. If we choose your bouldering design OR your high climbing design, you get half (R5000 voucher). We will try to be fair and generous here!
Second prize: One-year free membership for any CityROCK branch, valued at approximately R7,000.
Every serious entry will get a free one-month membership for the CityROCK branch of your choice.
Please note that:
* The jury consists of the CityROCK owners and marketing team.
* Everyone can enter, including CityROCK staff and our suppliers.
* Multiple submissions are not accepted. Any plagiarism will result in instant disqualification.
* The jury’s decision will be final.
