In August 2024, five South Africans, one Austrian, and one American embarked on an exciting adventure into the Ak-Su valley in southwest Kyrgyzstan, renowned for its world-class big wall and alpine rock climbing. Over three weeks, they explored the granite cliffs, tackled challenging routes like the 800m Perestroika Crack, 1400m French Route, and Little Russian Tower, and enjoyed the raw beauty of Central Asia—complete with canned fish, homemade flatbread, and icy swims.
