First South African to Send 9A

Professional Climber Mel Janse van Rensburg became the first South African to join the 9a club sending the world renowned 40m route Speed Intégrale in Voralpsee, Switzerland. The route is an extension of Speed (8c+) and is considered an endurance route with only 2 main rests and requires fast, efficient and precise climbing to get the send.
