Cape pebble-wrestlers have reason to celebrate with the launch of Bouldering Cape Town, a brand-new online resource which aims to discover and document quality boulder problems in Cape Town and surrounds.
Created by David Wilkinson, Bouldering Cape Town is a collaborative, community-driven project that offers comprehensive guides for over 130 boulder problems (so far), be they popular classics or hidden gems. The site allows you to search for boulders according to area, grade range or geography (i.e. beach, forest, mountain, etc.), allowing you to curate your perfect climbing experience. Above all, David hopes that this resource will make outdoor bouldering safer and more accessible.
Each topo provides detailed information on the boulder in question, including maps, time estimates for walk-ins, boulder height, access directions, and (of course) the names, grades and developers of the problems. You can easily find Bouldering Cape Town by visiting our Guidebook page, on which the website is permanently linked under “Route Guides”.
David has done an excellent job in compiling this site, but he needs your help to make it the best it can be…
How Can I Contribute?
If you’ve discovered or developed any new boulders in Cape Town and surrounds, send an email to boulderingcapetown@gmail.com with the details (e.g. location, grade, beta, photographs, etc.) so that David can continue to expand the site and take Cape Town pebble-wrestling to new heights.
