On Saturday (13 April 2024) local children from Emgwenya-Waterval Boven climbed at the Hallucinogen crag, the first time for many to ever climb at the Wonderland Area.
Morris Nkosi, who initiated the Emgwenya Mountain Club in 2012 and who helped organise Saturday’s meet, reports that the “kids cannot stop talking about the fantastic day they had climbing at the Hallucinogen wall.”
Special thanks were extended to some keen JHB climbers who joined in the fun – sharing ropes and beta, and to the MCSA-Johannesburg Section for helping cover transport and lunch costs for the children as well as paying for the climbing permit fee for the 14 people involved.
Watching people pull together to nurture and empower little lives as they experience new adventures speaks volumes about the power of community!
