On the weekend of 30 May, the climbing community gathered for the Morgan Bay Seacliff Fest, a celebration of sport, connection, and giving back. With 68 attendees, including 25 enthusiastic kids from Icwilli School, the event was a vibrant blend of experienced climbers and first-time adventurers — all drawn by the call of the cliffs.

Thanks to ideal weather — cool evenings and comfortable daytime temps — the sea-facing crags provided the perfect backdrop for a weekend of safe, social, and scenic climbing.
Raising Funds, Gifting Gear
One of the highlights of the weekend was the raffle, which raised R2700. The funds will be used to purchase smaller climbing harnesses — a much-needed addition to ensure that younger climbers can participate more comfortably and safely in future events.
The raffle also saw some awesome prizes handed out:
- Ryan Banks won a PVC rope bag from Adventure Bags.
- Rory Camp took home a set of 12 Flashed quickdraws from Mountain Mail Order.
- Gerald Camp walked away with an Ingco drill.
Every entrant didn’t leave empty-handed — each received a copy of Rand Rock, generously donated by SA Outdoor Academy, and a 200g bag of BD chalk, co-sponsored by SA Outdoor Academy and Morgan Bay Adventures.
Kids at the Crag
A standout moment of the fest was the kids’ participation. The 25 learners from Icwilli School got their hands chalky and their spirits lifted during their morning climbing session. Afterwards, they were treated to a surprise lucky draw, receiving:
- Pep vouchers worth R1000,
- Seven pairs of school shoes, sponsored by Kei Mouth Savemor,
- And a stash of climbing-themed stickers — a fun, memorable touch for these young adventurers.
We’re grateful to the Icwilli School and their teacher for allowing us to share photos from the event. Their presence added so much joy and energy to the weekend.
A Huge Thank You
A big shoutout to everyone who attended, participated, and contributed. Whether you were climbing, cheering, or helping behind the scenes, you helped make the Morgan Bay Seacliff Fest a success. Events like this show the heart of the South African climbing community — inclusive, generous, and always up for a good time on the rock.
Stay tuned for the next one — and bring your harness (even the small ones)!
Such a lekka spot, looking forward to next year.
